It started yesterday evening, mild chills, swelling of the neck, sore throat, earache swallow little embarrassing, a little dizzy when I close my eyes and pain all over my body .. . Ideas? perhaps a viral infection?

Probably viral. This could be the flu, STREP, and a number of other viruses. Drink plenty of clear fluids, take Motrin for fever or chills, and pain, and you go to the doctor tomorrow.
